AeroBed for Kids Reviews

I really love AeroBed for Kids. I bought 2 of these for my twins when they were 3 and we needed them for a vacation rental (where my family got the room with 1 king bed.)

My kids love AeroBed for Kids and they still use them (they are 9 years old now.) Easy to inflate, deflate, roll into bag. We usually travel with only one pump (since it is heavier) and we roll the bed, included cover, a fleece kids blanket and a travel pillow right in the included duffle.

The incluced cover very nice and stays put, but it looks more like a matress pad and is white(!), plus its a little hot on your skin and slightly scratchy since it is quilted.

I looked for regular cotton sheets that would fit over the pad, but didn’t see anything. It seems regular fitted sheets are too long. I may sew a casing on a regular flat twin sheet and put elastic all the way around. Maybe attach another flat sheet to the bottom of this (so the top sheet would always be attached to the bottom one?) I am lazy, though and haven’t done it yet! I would welcome any comments from someone who may have done this already with tips (e.g., do I need to sew corners? Would it be easier to simply shorten a regular fitted sheet with a seam near the feet? etc.)

The AeroBed for Kids itself has held up extremely well, no problems (even with active kids who aren’t exactly gentle with it.) Great for sleepovers with friends, too.

Edit: I did buy a regular twin set of sheets and just added shorter corner seams on one end. Perfect. I also sewed 2 seams (to make a corner) on the flat sheet so that my kids don’t pull on it exposing their feet. I also did the same to a fleece blanket (that I got here on amazon) so the top sheet and blanket stay well on the bed (no endless tucking!) It all fits right in the duffle.

Making Beeswax Candle Tips – Candles with the Kids

The warm illuminating glow it emits. That sugary-sweet smell as the candle wanes. Sigh! The art of beeswax candlemaking is undeniably interesting and fun!

Making beeswax candles is a great “hands on” project for the kids. Don’t worry about kids having to get within one foot of a hot stove because this project doesn’t involve any burning wax. Beeswax candle making is a neat and tidy project with easy-to-find materials.

Making Beeswax Candles Tips - Items that You Do Need

  • 8 inch by 16 inch sheets of beeswax
  • Primed wick sliced for a one inch candle
  • A small paring knife from your kitchen
  • Flat open surface

How to Make Beeswax Candles

  1. Lay out your sheet of beeswax
  2. Slice wick approximately 3/4 inches longer than wax sheet (allowing excess on both sides of candle)

Leaving available wick at each ends allows you the choice to decide which side of the candle you prefer as the top and which side the bottom.

Lay the wick on the tip of the sheet and then, after folding it on top of 1/8 of an inch of wax, proceed with rolling. You can ensure that the wick would be properly enclosed by the seam.  Pushing firmly from left to right continue to roll the beeswax forward around the wick with your fingertips, making sure the beeswax is wrapped tight and straight as you go. This is probably the most difficult step thorughout the process of making candles.

Another thing you can do is use either a cutting board or counter corner as you create a seam (1/8 inches) by flipping the wax overthen folding it down. Either or – just make sure you obtain a perfect seam in the process.

In candle making, you need to determine how thick you’d wish your candle to be. The thicker you want, the more beeswax you will need to add. This is done by aligning the new wax sheet edge to edge with the original & using your thumb to meld the pieces together. Make sure you don’t stop rolling the beeswax until it’s wrapped entirely around itself.

With your thumbs, press the corners of the beeswax down softly upon reaching the end.  Continue going along the whole length of the candle creating an invisible seam.

Pick out what would serve as the best candle top then cut the wick half an inch over the wax. For the rest of the wick, remove it starting from the base.

Although the younger ones might not find these parts enjoyable, you and other parents certainly would. Now, get on and set your candle alight to celebrate your wonderful project and let the intoxicating scent of success wash over you! And as for the kids? And voila — their very own candles!

Be aware that the next steps for candlemaking are not much different with what others in your place had done centuries ago. Originally, the goal was to have a source of light…an obvious necessity during those times. But at present, a lot of people simply take up candlemaking for recreational purposes. Or it can be for a variety of reasons. As stated previously, most of the time, it is for self gratification. There are also occasions when they can serve as the ideal gifts. One of the most popular craft projects that parents teach to their kids is wax candle making. Finally, the last reason is profit. There are also people who make candles for a living.

Patio Cushions

Posted by outside_voices on Sunday, 29 November, 2009

Where can you find the best value for money cushions? It does not matter whether you are looking for kitchen chair cushions, patio cushions or cushions for your sofas, this article will help you choose the best.

Visit any one of the following for comprehensive products and reviews: dining room chair cushions, discount chair cushions, therapeutic chair cushions

When it comes to choosing patio cushions there are a number of things that you need to know so that the cushions you buy will be able to last you a long time. One of the most important factors to think about is size. It is essential to get the size that fits correctly. Cushions that are small in size will be quite uncomfortable to sit on and if they are too big then they are likely to wear and tear faster.

If a tie is included in the type of cushions that you buy then make sure that it is near the seam. This is because cushions tend to stretch when they are sat on and if the tie is near the seam then it will be able to withstand the stretching. Sooner or later the cushions will no doubt get dirty and require cleaning.

To avoid stress and frustration buy patio cushions that have removable covers. This is because these type of covers are simpler to wash and clean. Some materials are quite durable and take a long time before they start to wear or tear. You should consider buying cushions made of such fabrics. Denim, canvas, corduroy are some examples that I can think of. Another thing that you need to know is if the cushions are resistant to stains. If you find that the cushions have not been treated but you like them you can get them treated on your own.

You should also get cushions that have good aesthetic qualities and will complement the things that you have in your house. One place that you can get patio cushions that are of good quality is the internet. You can get to compare products and prices from one place.
