AeroBed for Kids Reviews

Posted by outside_voices on Thursday, 6 May, 2010

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

I really love AeroBed for Kids. I bought 2 of these for my twins when they were 3 and we needed them for a vacation rental (where my family got the room with 1 king bed.)

My kids love AeroBed for Kids and they still use them (they are 9 years old now.) Easy to inflate, deflate, roll into bag. We usually travel with only one pump (since it is heavier) and we roll the bed, included cover, a fleece kids blanket and a travel pillow right in the included duffle.

The incluced cover very nice and stays put, but it looks more like a matress pad and is white(!), plus its a little hot on your skin and slightly scratchy since it is quilted.

I looked for regular cotton sheets that would fit over the pad, but didn’t see anything. It seems regular fitted sheets are too long. I may sew a casing on a regular flat twin sheet and put elastic all the way around. Maybe attach another flat sheet to the bottom of this (so the top sheet would always be attached to the bottom one?) I am lazy, though and haven’t done it yet! I would welcome any comments from someone who may have done this already with tips (e.g., do I need to sew corners? Would it be easier to simply shorten a regular fitted sheet with a seam near the feet? etc.)

The AeroBed for Kids itself has held up extremely well, no problems (even with active kids who aren’t exactly gentle with it.) Great for sleepovers with friends, too.

Edit: I did buy a regular twin set of sheets and just added shorter corner seams on one end. Perfect. I also sewed 2 seams (to make a corner) on the flat sheet so that my kids don’t pull on it exposing their feet. I also did the same to a fleece blanket (that I got here on amazon) so the top sheet and blanket stay well on the bed (no endless tucking!) It all fits right in the duffle.

Getting married and looking for advice on furniture

Posted by outside_voices on Wednesday, 10 March, 2010

Marriage I beleive is one of the biggest changes in our life. Many people around the world get married for various reasons, could be religious, emotional, love, family involvement, arrange and more. Getting married is one thing but organising your wedding especially contemporary furniture is a completely different thing. Some people may have the budget to hire wedding planner to sort out the event and everything else but for people who do not have the budget they will have to look and organise everything at their wedding from furniture and events to food.

There are so many things you have to look at to ensure there is no problem and the wedding goes according to plan. First is to create the list of the people you want to invite, second choosing the venue of your wedding, where is it going to take place along with the party venue. Yes yes I know before all that you actually need to find a partner to get married to, then comes the ring (save – save – save). Wow just writing about this is making me think what I am going to do for my wedding, which will be taking place in 15 months time, I have a solution; I will get married to a wedding planner. It is not far away.

Previously the wedding events I have attended all have used modular seating systems to make it look modern and classy. For my wedding, I think I will go with more traditional yet modern furniture. It is easy getting this look, I will just have to find traditional but modern furniture to suit your venue. That sounds pretty easy to do but it’s not. But I am sure you will be able to find exactly what you are looking for if you do your research. Mostly read blogs and article of wedding events. Ask people who recently organised their own wedding, or may be even a wedding planner if she/he doesn’t charge you. For me I think I will ask my mother to handle all this problem, experience does help.

Decorative Mirrors

Posted by outside_voices on Thursday, 3 December, 2009

Because they are thought to be expensive most people never really consider the idea of having a decorative bathroom mirror. My response to that is a plain mirror belongs in a plain house. After going through all the trouble of getting your home to look nice decorative mirrors are just the finish the place needs.

You might not have been aware too but these so called plain mirrors are made of a lower quality glass than decorative mirrors which is more fragile and more likely to break. Besides being beautiful and making the place look nice decorative mirrors are stronger than normal mirrors.

You can place a decorative mirror practically anywhere. There are just so many options on the number of things that you can do with a mirror. Ultimately though it just adds a little life to what would be an otherwise dull atmosphere. The larger the nicer, you have no idea just how much beauty a large full length mirror can add to your place. This is just one of those things you have to try out for yourself and you’ll love the result.

Decorative mirrors can be put up anywhere. Some people limit this aspect of mirrors to their homes but it can be placed anywhere. You can put one inside any of the businesses that you run, it will not bring customers to your place but will help you keep the ones you have. People appreciate doing business in a nice atmosphere and a decorative mirror usually sticks in a person’s mind. It might even be for your office. There is no real monetary reward that you get but its all about creating an atmosphere. Even within your home you can place the mirror anywhere it doesn’t have to be in the living room only. you could have them fitted in the passage ways, in the bathroom, in your bedroom or in most of your rooms. This is just one of those things that you need to try out.

Will Using Tiles to Decorate My Kitchen Really Make It Look Bigger?

Posted by outside_voices on Wednesday, 14 October, 2009

Modern kitchens tend to be very limited for space and are very very small.Ways of transforming your small kitchen into one that feels much bigger is explored in this article; this is done through using natural techniques and choosing your tiles carefully.

People spend a lot of time in their kitchen which is why they very often spend alot of time designing it.The latest gadgets they like are usually installed.  They have the most ultramodern and stylish lighting. It’s just a range cooker to die for. What kind of unit doors are required and where to put the fridge takes hours of deliberating. The kind of handles required on the kitchen units can be mulled over for days.To make the kitchen look bigger and to lose that small, claustrophobic feel they will go to excessive lengths.Choosing tiles in 10 minutes can only end in disaster.

When they’re not completely happy with the result of the kitchen then they can’t understand why. In fact it seems smaller, not bigger. So, what happened?

The tiles went wrong, that’s what!  Kitchen wall tiles need to be chosen with care and love.  Kitchen tiles may seem like they are the icing on the cake, but they are vitally important.Obtaining the right look in the kitchen is important. Take time therefore to choose tiles that will achieve the desired effect. Otherwise, you could end up with a kithcen that not only looks shabby but feels alot smaller than it actually is.

Choosing your tiles for your kitchen can be difficult so check out the basic principles.light colours should be used in a small kitchen.  Grey may look chic in Southern Spain, but in a UK small kitchen it will look make the kitchen seem far smaller than it is.

If your kitchen is not blessed with a good deal of natural light, go for light colours: these will accentuate the natural light and help the kitchen look bigger.

A small kitchen as well can be made to look bigger by using smaller tiles.  If you use big tiles in a small kitchen they seem to accentuate the smallness of the area: so cheat and create an optical illusion!

Plain tiles are best as patterned tiles close the walls in.Placing odd patterned tiles randomly to break up the walls can also give the kitchen that bigger look.Making an area look bigger can also be done by using a mirror. Place the mirror that reflects off one of the patterned tiles.

You can have the kitchen you have always dreamed of by making careful decisions on what tiles to use; that big kitchen is in your grasp!
